GLOBAL, BUT OURS

After her “coronation” in Denmark, when she was announced as the best handball player in the world for the year 2013, Andrea went to Skopje, where her teammates from Vardar prepared a surprise welcome ceremony at the airport. The whole team wore t-shirts with a picture of her with a text underneath saying “Svetska, a naša”, roughly translated as “Global, but ours.” The wave of emotions and tears were impossible to control.
“That welcome was truly amazing, honestly. The excitement was at its’ peak. I felt great satisfaction. Even though the award is for an individual, if it weren’t for them, my teammates from Vardar, and previously Gyor, and if it weren’t for my teammates from the Serbian national team, there wouldn’t be an award like this either. We won the Champions League together, and we won a silver medal at the World Championship, and I am very much aware of that. It is not my success, it is a team effort, a team success. I consider myself a team player, I am ready to submit to the team, and I believe it is always the right way to think.”
