THE MOST IMPORTANT EVENTS AND CAREER DECISIONS;
Belgrade and Serbia, but also the whole planet in the world of handball will remember the 26th of January, 2014, as the day Andrea Lekic was chosen as the best handball player in the world by the International Handball Federation (IHF). The Serbian handball player got the most votes from a jury comprised of experts, media representatives as well as handball enthusiasts. The competition was huge, but Andrea left players like Anita Gorbicz, Heidi Loke, Katrine Lunde and Katarina Bulatovic behind her. At the ceremony in Herning, Denmark, Andrea experienced something incredible:
“I felt amazing, needless to say I was thrilled. Being awarded the title of the best in the world by the IHF is the biggest individual accolade one can get in his/her career. 2013 was fantastic, and it is a small piece of the puzzle that was missing for it to be the dream year. I am thankful for everyone who voted, thankful for all of my club and national team teammates, and of course I am thankful for my family and friends for all of their support during these years.”
