The Krim fans had a special spot in Andrea’s handball road to success. Those people weren’t just fans of the club, they were friends of the club. They were always here to help and support them. A group of Krim fans still kept cheering for Andrea even years after she left Ljubljana, and they can often be seen in any sports hall in Europe, whether she plays as a member of the national team or as a member of a certain club. Fate wanted Gyor and Krim in the same groupof the Champions League in the 2012/13 season. That didn’t stop the Krim fans from welcoming Andrea in an unforgettable way, even though she played for as the opponent that time.
“It was the first time I came back to Slovenia wearing a different jersey. After having spent four phenomenal years in Ljubljana, I had to play against the club and the girls I spent so many memorable moments with. I expected a completely different match in every way. A special match. And it was indeed special. At the very moment I went out to the court in order to start warming up, the memories hit me. All of those beautiful moments as well as those tough moments we shared for years. The Krim fans are a special story. Yes, we are professional athletes that get out to the court and control their emotions, but it was very hard for me to do so at the moment. I was overwhelmed by a very strange feeling. I can’t even describe it. The most touching and emotional moment for me was seeing that the Krim fans brought a banner that said – “WELCOME HOME”. Ljubljana was and always will be my second home. They managed to leave me speechless, again. And it is a priceless feeling. It is the kind of inner satisfaction that can’t be compared to any match, goal or victory.”
